Explore The Wonders of Your Own Backyard!
COSI and ScottsMiracle-Gro are pleased to present Backyard Science Day for the fourth year. Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., experts from ScottsMiracle-Gro will help COSI guests explore all there is to know about their own backyard.
“We are delighted to be partnering again with ScottsMiracle-Gro for Backyard Science Day,” said David E. Chesebrough, Ed.D., President and CEO of COSI. “It’s a great way for our guests to engage with experts at ScottsMiracle-Gro, as well as learn valuable information about the science behind growing plants.”
COSI and ScottsMiracle-Gro will use interactive hands-on demonstrations plus take-home materials to help kids cultivate their green thumbs and learn about backyard chemistry.
“ScottsMiracle-Gro is committed to educating young people on the science of gardening and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment,” said Dave Swihart, senior vice president, Global R&D, ScottsMiracle-Gro. “We are proud to have a part in nurturing discovery and imagination within children.”
Through hands-on activities, visitors will learn about soil, how plants grow, what seeds need to grow, how to make bird seed and about edible gardening, especially city gardening.
Backyard Science Day is free with COSI admission.
