Season of Celebrations is a grand seasonal exhibit experience, starting on Saturday, November 23, 2024, that will transform the museum into a winter wonderland, combining science, education and the festive spirit of the season. With a grand, 40-foot tree in the iconic COSI Atrium serving as the centerpiece, the experience will captivate visitors with enchanting decorations, 50 community-focused trees, 10 Classic COSI exhibit-themed trees along with specialty food & beverage.
The heart of this experience is the display of 50 community-focused trees. These trees are beautifully decorated by local community organizations, schools and nonprofits, each telling a unique story and representing the rich tapestry of the Columbus community. Visitors can stroll through this forest of trees and learn about the organizations and their missions while enjoying the creativity and festive spirit of the adorned space. Throughout the building, every corner is festooned with twinkling lights, garlands and other décor, including a complete seasonal transformation of COSI’s classic Progress exhibit. Guests can experience what the holidays were like for those living in both 1898 and 1962! Roving actors will be in the exhibit each day from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. to add some festive entertainment.
New in 2024, find new winter interactives like ‘Build A Snowman’ in the Community Forest as well as a new entrance and ‘Frozen Chess’ in Big Science Park. Also, new and additional décor will be added around the museum as well in guest-favorite exhibits like Ocean, where ice and penguins will join the already immersive space. New, additional decorated trees will be added to brighten the halls of COSI as well.
In addition to the visual spectacle, Season of Celebrations will feature a range of themed programming. This includes special science demonstrations and hands-on activities for kids and adults alike, all designed to engage guests in a unique exploration of the season and its ties to the world of science and technology.
