Digital Festival Will Offer Dozens of Virtual Science Events, May 5-8, 2021

COLUMBUS, OH – Get ready for some serious science: Ohio’s largest annual science event, the COSI Science Festival, will be held May 5-8, 2021. The third annual COSI Science Festival will again be held virtually and will include dozens of unique online events showcasing incredible science being done in Ohio and will again prove that science truly is everywhere and for everyone. During the first three days of the Science Festival, families, students, and everyone with an interest in knowing more about science can connect virtually to online programs and events. On May 8, instead of coming together in-person for the Big Science Celebration, participants can connect virtually with at-home science activities and share their experiences via social media.

“Even though events still look a little different due to the pandemic, the COSI Science Festival continues to grow,” said Dr. Frederic Bertley, President and CEO of COSI. “Our 2020 virtual Festival impacted more than 116,000 people. By comparison, the inaugural in-person Festival in 2019 impacted more than 40,000. We look forward to when we can host an in-person Festival again but we are grateful for the tremendous opportunity to serve a wider audience through virtual offerings. We are working with our festival partners to create engaging digital science content for people to enjoy at home.”
The COSI Science Festival is the largest STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) event in Ohio. COSI has partnered with businesses, schools and universities, leaders in science, non-profits and museums, and diverse communities across Ohio to offer free science events on topics ranging from archaeology to zoology - and everything in between.

COSI welcomes back central Ohio partner cities and neighborhoods for the 2021 COSI Science Festival. Bexley, Circleville, Columbus, Delaware, Dublin, Franklinton, Gahanna, Grove City, Heath, London, Marysville, New Albany, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Upper Arlington, Westerville, Whitehall, and Worthington will all return. COSI will also hold the inaugural John Glenn Inspiration Award celebration honoring the very first award recipient through a virtual event during the Festival. With the blessing of the Glenn Family, COSI has created the John Glenn Inspiration Award to annually recognize an individual who has dedicated their life to inspiring others for the benefit of humankind.
