- Artists may submit ONE image of 2-Dimensional art for consideration (all 2D media are welcome-drawing, painting, prints, collage, photography, digital, etc)
- 3-Dimensional work will ONLY be accepted if in a shadowbox frame and/or substrate that includes a wire hanging mechanism to hang safely on a wall. All artworks must be able to hang safely on a wall. D-rings with wire preferred. No sawtooth hangers or clip frames. Any frame provided by the artist must use plexiglass. No glass will be accepted.
- Animation shorts (90 sec or less) may be entered for jury consideration (more information below).
- This art exhibition features separate age categories: Adult (19+), Teen (12-18), and Youth (11 and under)
- If selected, COSI will request the original artwork remain at the museum for the duration of the art exhibition (Dec 6, 2025 – September 7, 2026)
- Artists may enter only their original work – no reproductions of original work will be accepted. No Pixar character art will be accepted.
- AI-generated images are not permitted. All artwork must be original and created entirely by the submitting artist without the use of generative AI tools.
- Your submission may be displayed in COSI. Anything that is deemed inappropriate or explicit by the Judging Panel or COSI’s Project Team will not be accepted for review
- Any artist under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign the virtual application form. Teacher signatures will not be accepted.
- Call for Entry Open: September 3, 2025
- Deadline to submit: October 27, 2025 (no late submissions will be accepted)

- Artists may enter ONE artwork for consideration.
- Media Conditions:
- 2D Art (on paper) will be framed by COSI Team and must fit within one of the following frame sizes:
- 8.5"x11”
- 11” x 17”
- 16” x 20”
- 18” x 24”
- 24” x 36”
- *Paintings on stretched canvas will not be framed but must have wire on the back to hang directly on the wall.
- *Paintings on panel (wood, masonite, canvas board, etc) must come framed or have wire attached directly on the back for display
- 2D Art (on paper) will be framed by COSI Team and must fit within one of the following frame sizes:
- 3D Art: 3-Dimensional work will ONLY be accepted if in a shadowbox frame with plexi and/or attached to a substrate that includes a hanging mechanism to hang safely on a wall. Due to the hands-on/interactive nature of the museum, some guests may have curious hands and touch the work. Please make sure all components of the piece are firmly attached to the substrate. By applying to the call for art, you acknowledge that your work may be touched.

- Artwork must be photographed straight, in focus, and on a solid background.
- Label uploaded image with title of artwork and artist name (ie: title.lastname.jpg)
- Uploaded image must be high resolution, less than 8 MB and saved as a JPEG or PDF.
- If your total image file size is greater than 8 MB, you may resize the image through one of these free photo editing programs: Microsoft Image Resizer, Microsoft Photo Editor, Picasa, etc.
*Artist Statement: Application requires each artist to submit a short statement/description of the work. Please be mindful that the jurors will be looking at these statements as they make their final decisions. If selected to exhibit, these statements will be used on the artwork label.
MEET THE JURORS
Jonathan Juravich, Ph.D. began teaching elementary art with Olentangy Schools in 2005. Still actively teaching art to young students, his personal and professional focus is on the importance of social and emotional learning in our daily lives. This is his favorite topic for research and discussion, including his dissertation, his TED Talk “How Do We Teach Empathy,” his limited series podcast "The Art of SEL," and his Emmy award winning digital drawing program "Drawing with Mr. J." produced by WOSU Classroom. He recently wrote his first book "YES, Boys Can!" which celebrates the biographies of 50 men in the fields of health, education, the arts, and literacy. In 2018, Jonathan was named Ohio Teacher of the Year and one of four finalists for National Teacher of the Year. In 2023, he was named the National Elementary Art Teacher of the Year by the National Art Education Association. He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his family.
Alanna Gibson is a interdisciplinary visual performing artist and writer based in Columbus, Ohio. Gibson advocates for the mutuality of Art and Science not only for the creation of wonder, but as being absolutely essential for the mundane, and joined COSI’s KINETIC Board in 2023. Alanna graduated from Alfred University and University of Dayton, and is a former curator of the WH Thomas Gallery in Columbus, Ohio. She is overjoyed about serving on this juror panel for the Center of Science and Industry.
Tony Auseon is an award-winning writer and producer who leads the Creative Media department at COSI, the #1 rated science center in the USA. With a background in film and television storytelling, his creative pursuits investigate the weird, wise, and wonderful. He oversaw the education department for a major Ohio arts organization, reinventing curriculum-based narrative performances for education settings and designing interactive programs for a range of ages. Shifting to public audiences and spaces, Tony spent nearly a decade as a Principal & Producer for an industry-leading experience design/build firm, creating immersive engagement and human connections in museums and cultural institutions around the world. At COSI, he oversees the science center’s Creative Media strategy and production, including its television partnerships, documentaries, long form online series, and animated shows.
