Health-Related Programming Presented by: Cardinal Health

Brain Chatter

Explore the interactions of the brain with the bodily functions it controls in this highly-structured program focused on cross-curricular learning immersion that includes:

  • COSI general admission
  • Sheep Brain Dissection - Explore animal anatomy and discover the body functions that our brains control in this 45-minute sheep brain dissection
  • In Depth: Autopsy Live - An Ohio State University pathology resident will join your students live as they observe a 90-minute recorded human autopsy from beginning to end. Your students must use information gathered during the program and post-visit activities to determine the cause of death.

DNA

Explore the individuality and complex body design of living things in this highly-structured 3.5-hour program focused on cross-curricular learning immersion that includes:

  • COSI general admission
  • DNA: The Foundation for YOU a 45-minute, workshop where your students will learn about DNA and how it relates to cellular structure and expression of characteristics.
  • "Surgical Suite: Total Knee replacement," a powerful learning experience for students and adults that lets you ask questions and interact via videoconference with surgeons and medical personnel in a real hospital operating room.

Engineering

Engineering is a very broad and exciting field that impacts our lives everywhere. Explore some of the magnificant creations designed by Engineers through the movie Dream Big, in the National Geographic Giant Screen Theater. Engage in engineering challenges which enhance 21st Century Skills, and spend some quality time with an engineer in the field, discovering what is so amazing about the work that engineers do to make our lives better.

Process Skills

Observation, Communication, Measurement, Prediction, Inference – These skills are not only the basic building blocks for science investigations, we use these skills in interactions and decisions we make every day. Hone your process skills with engagement and investigations in this immersive experience that includes:

  • COSI National Geographic Giant Screen Theater: Mysteries of the Unseen World - be transported to places on our planet you’ve never been, to see things that are beyond our normal vision yet are literally right in front of our very eyes.
  • COSI Process Skill Carnival: Explore the different science process skills their importance not only to science but to being an informed citizen. Challenge and grow your abilities through inquiry and investigations which help you reinforce measurement, communication, observation, prediction, and more.

Stellar Studies

Explore the stars and beyond. Learn about what it takes to be a next generation NASA Astronaut and what journeys are next on the horizon. This 3.5-hour program focuses on cross-curricular learning immersion.

  • COSI Planetarium Show: Our Solar System – explore our solar system as discover the size of our sun compared to other stars. Glide through the rings of Saturn and discover the unique properties of the other 7 planets. Discover how the earth’s tilt affects our seasons each year, and more.
  • COSI Astronomy Bootcamp: Do you have what it takes to be a NASA astronaut in the 21st Century? Hone your 21st Century skills as you solve challenges of how to prepare for your time in space, work together with your team to create shelter, and experience the challenges that can occur when you are so far from home.
  • COSI Paper Rocket Challenge: Challenge your creativity and critical thinking skills as you experience all phases of the design cycle while you design and launch a paper rocket.

Weather

Weather is all around us and does some amazing things. Learn about the components of our weather; air and water in the COSI Planetarium. Watch coud formations, identify them and what they mean, discover how severe weather forms, create your own cloud, and learn how to gather and post your data for other weather scientists to use across the world.

Additional lab experiences are featured as one experience in COSI’s Generation Rx Lab.

Reservation and Cancellation Policy

Full payment is due one month prior to your program date unless a previously agreed upon payment time line has been established. Cancellations made less than one month prior to your program date are non-refundable.

Up to two weeks prior to your program date, programs may be rescheduled to a new date within the same school year one time at no penalty. You must contact COSI at least two weeks prior to your program date to be eligible to reschedule or the ability to transfer the credit to another session will be forfeited. Changes made less than two weeks prior to your date will not be refunded.

Weather-related cancellations can be rescheduled to a new date within the same school year at no penalty as long as COSI is notified within two hours of the program start time. Weather-related cancellations that aren't rescheduled into a new date within the same school year will not be refunded.

Overpayments will be refunded in the manner in which they were received.
