YOUR MISSION:
Create an original super hero artwork! We all have our favorite super heroes from comics and the big screen, now here is your chance to invent and design your own super hero. What is their name? What do they look like? What are their superpowers? Send us an original artwork featuring your original super hero creation, and you will have a chance to win fabulous prizes and be featured in an art exhibition at COSI next spring 2022.
Once you are finished and ready to send your art to COSI, scan the work or take a high-quality image.

CONTEST DETAILS & POLICIES:
- Artists may submit up to two (2) pieces of 2-Dimensional art for consideration (all 2D media are welcome- ie. drawings, prints, illustrations, paintings, digital art, etc)
- This contest features separate age categories: Adult (18+), Teen (12-17), and Youth (11 and under)
- Jury-selected pieces will hang in COSI’s gallery hallways
- Jurors for this exhibition will be a panel of comic professionals and experts from the local community
- If selected, COSI may request the original artwork remain at COSI for the duration of the Exhibition (April-July 2022)
- Jury-selected artists will be asked to sign a Loan Agreement in order for their work to be displayed
- If selected, artists under 18 years old must have a parent signature submitted
- Artists may enter only their original work – no reproductions of original work will be accepted
- Your submission may be displayed in COSI. Anything that is deemed inappropriate or explicit by the Judging Panel or COSI’s Project Team will not be accepted for review
- Call for Entry Open: December 6, 2021
- Deadline to submit: February 28, 2022 at midnight (no late submissions will be accepted)
- Artist Notifications: March 7, 2022
- Exhibition on view April-July 2022
- Artists may enter up to two total artworks per category.
- Media Conditions:
- 2D Art: must fit within one of the following frame sizes:
- 8.5” x 11”
- 16” x 20”
- 24” x 36”
- 2D Art: must fit within one of the following frame sizes:
- COSI will frame and display materials. Just submit your art, and we’ll take care of the rest.
- Upon delivery, if an accepted artwork is found to have been misrepresented, it may be disqualified.
- Submissions will only be accepted via website form, unless other arrangements between the artist and the COSI art contest team have been made in advance.

Grand Prize
A winner from each age category (Youth, Teen, Adult) will win a brand-new iPad. (Three total)
Additional Prizes
Six additional winners will be chosen from the Youth (11-) category for a Super Top Secret prize.
All winners chosen to be a part of the Super Hero Art Exhibition will win two complimentary tickets to visit MARVEL: Universe of Super Heroes at COSI.

JURORS:
CM Campbell received his BA in Fine Art with a studio emphasis at San Francisco State University, and his MFA in Comics at California College of the Arts. His work as a comic artist can be most prominently found in editorial cartooning with publications like Hyperallergic and The Margins. He is currently a professor of Comics and Narrative Practices at Columbus College of Art and Design.
Lauren is a manager at The Laughing Ogre and a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design. In 2021, The Laughing Ogre won the prestigious Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, an annual accolade bestowed upon one comic book store in the world. The independent comic shop is known for its diverse collection of titles and supporting local artists getting into the comic industry.
In addition to comics, Lauren loves history, playing The Sims, and foods featuring bread and cheese. She lives in Clintonville with her two cats.
Jenny Robb (she/her) is Curator and Associate Professor of The Ohio State University’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum where she manages the world’s largest collection of comics and cartoon materials. She holds master’s degrees in History and Museum Studies from Syracuse University. Before coming to Ohio State, Robb worked as a curator at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. She has curated more than 25 exhibitions of cartoon and comics art and is the author of numerous comics-related book chapters, articles and essays.
