COSI is Columbus' dynamic hands-on science center and was recently named the #1 science center in the country by Parents Magazine. COSI features more than 300 interactive exhibitions and over 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 7-story Extreme Screen Theater with the largest screen in Ohio, an outdoor science park, a special area for tiny explorers ages 0 through Kindergarten, and the country's only high-wire unicycle. COSI also offers a variety of special events, family programs, camps, and more.


COSI Planetarium Opens This Weekend

Columbus, OH – COSI will open Ohio’s largest Planetarium on Saturday, November 22, 2014. The Planetarium will open with three shows each appealing to a variety of audiences.

Our Universe Above: Winter Skies: Presented LIVE by the COSI Team, this seasonal tour of the universe is a modern planetarium show in the classic tradition of stargazing, filled with stars, planets, constellations, current science news, and audience interaction. Running time: Approximately 40 minutes.

Holiday Double Feature: Enjoy two great Christmas-themed shows in one family-friendly program! Explore space with Santa in "The Alien Who Stole Christmas," then participate in a cosmic holiday sing-along with "Let It Snow." Running time: Approximately 40 minutes.

One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure: Explore the night sky with your favorite friends from Sesame Street! Follow along with Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, as they take you on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun and the Moon. Running time: Approximately 40 minutes.

COSI Announces Planetarium Opening Date

Columbus, OH – COSI is excited to announce the official opening date of the Planetarium and the selection of a vendor for its new digital Planetarium system.  The Planetarium will open on November 22, 2014.  COSI chose a Digistar 5 digital Fulldome system from Evans and Sutherland which will be installed this fall.

COSI Celebrates 10 Years of Farm Days

COLUMBUS, OH – COSI celebrates 10 years of bringing the farm to the city with Farm Days: Little Seeds, Big Tractors Wednesday, August 6 through Sunday, August 10.  Farm Days features huge farming equipment, including a Case IH Quadtrac machine which uses rubber treads instead of tires, arranged on the west side of COSI and activities related to Ohio’s largest industry: food and agriculture.  


COSI Welcomes New Board Member

Aimee Kennedy has been named to COSI Board

Columbus, OH – Aimee Kennedy has been named to COSI’s volunteer board of trustees.  She is vice president of Education, STEM Learning, and Philanthropy at Battelle.

Kennedy directs Battelle’s efforts to foster innovative educational environments that prepare students for tomorrow’s career and college environment.  Prior to Battelle, she was the Principal/Chief Academic Officer at Metro Early College High School, an Ohio STEM Learning Network platform school founded by Battelle and located on the campus of The Ohio State University.  As principal, Kennedy led the Metro Early College to unprecedented levels of student achievement during her leadership and tenure.

Kennedy earned a bachelor’s degree from Malone University in Communications, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Akron, and is completing a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University.

The volunteer Board of Trustees provides dedicated leadership and support, enabling COSI to engage with more than one million individuals every year both on-site and off-site.  There are 13 people on the board.
